Sketching the walk

I am sketching one part of our walk the alleyway and a part of Eastney beach next to Fraser Range. My drawings took between 2-5minutes to draw.

For my first two drawings I was looking at the alleyway. It was a very dark path especially in the evening when the sun has set. It is surrounded by fences and the trees on the side. I was reimagining the space to get some more light from the sides to make it less scary to walk there after dark. In the picture to the right you can see how I have started to look at the ideas of light from the sides to light up the path.

This image was inspired by the man and his dog that we met towards the end of the alleyway. You can read in this post that the man said it is very peaceful and quiet in the summer mornings when the sea is still and it is a perfect place to walk your dog. I just wanted to capture the feeling of the waves, sun and the peaceful feeling he described.

When we then arrived to the beach I noticed these structures and wanted to draw them. On a flat beach they stand out and it is something you remember even when you aren't at the location anymore.

Along the beach there is fences and barbed wire. I imagined a path where people can walk next to it, a space that reflects the barbed wire and the feeling of not being able to move feely.
